Summary: This document identifies various types of disruptive behavior(s)
which interfere with the ability of our citizens to effectively use library
materials and services. Therefore, such behavior(s) cannot and will not
be tolerated. Continued violations may result in expulsion from the library
or loss of library privileges. Disruptive behavior(s) include:
* Behavior or actions which violate local ordinances, state, and/or
federal law
* Behavior or actions which violate the library's policies and/or guidelines
* Physical abuse
* Abusive or threatening language or behavior
* Harassing others
* Misuse of library furnishings, materials, or equipment
* Congregating in or around entrances, exits, stairways, or otherwise
impeding accessibility
* Noise (including radios and cellular phones) or talking which interferes
with the rights of others
* Running in the library
Furthermore, library staff may limit the number of individuals congregated
in a given area or seated at any one table.
* Service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities
Act are the only animals permitted in the library with the exception of
those being used in a library program.
* Smoking and sleeping in the library are prohibited.
* Eating and drinking are not allowed in the library unless they are specified
as part of a meeting or library program.
* Young children should not be left unattended in the library, even when
caregivers are in other areas of the building.
* Because the library cannot be responsible for lost or stolen articles,
do not leave valuable or personal belongings unattended.
* Shoes and shirts must be worn when visiting the library.
* Rollerblades, skateboards and other large sports and/or athletic equipment
are not allowed in the library building.
